The first "big" Cali swell came and went in the blink of an eye, and while some forecasting sites were calling for massive surf what we ended up finding in South Orange County was anything but. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it was big up north and bombing at places like Todo's and Mavs, but down here it was just "almost fair" to say the least. See, that's thing with swell...stuff almost always comes along with it, like wind, rain, large crowds and in this case-an extreme amount of hype. And, like suckers we bought into the hype machine therfore as a result we were left disappointed. Rookies. Sure we got some good waves, had fun with friends and hooted and hollered, but at the end of the day we didn't quite get that northern hemi juice that we were so dreaming of.
With that being said, our Junior crew comprised of Christian Saenz, Chase Wilson and Tyler Gunter were still ripping and taking the conditions in stride-doing what pro surfers do best-making bad conditions look good. So, at the end of the day we were pretty stoked as we did nail some good photos and had a beautiful breakfast at Mc'Donalds. However, the happiness soon wore off once reports started trickling in about how good it was down south and over the border. Oh well, until next time...

Christian Saenz brings a new meaning to lip bash.

An empty one rolls thru down the beach...fun if you like closeouts.

Little Tyler Gunter working on his roundhouse.

Christian in Newport Beach. We literally couldn't believe how much smaller it was up there compared to our morning sesh.

Chase Wilson with a nice little lien.

Saenzy again showing the long boarders how its done. Yes he stuck this.

Little Gunter says the hell with this and walks on home. Actually he had to go to school.
