FISE 2011 Montpellier Wrap-Up Report

This is one of those happenings where you really have to schedule your walk from one end of the venue to the other. A stroll along the massive course will take you well over 20 mins (not counting the many stops you might take checking out tons of booths offering anything from T-Shirts to Crepes) and will take you past a whole bunch of fantastic courses for all kinds of action sports such as Skateboarding, Wakeboarding, Mountain Bike and BMX! The Arnette Europe team is proud to be a supporter of FISE 2011 and everyone of us is already looking forward to next year’s event in Montpellier.

The intensity you experience while visiting this event is hard to describe. Despite the sheer largeness of the area and the amount of visitors there are countless sessions and contests to witness. Even though a bit inconsistent, the weather was good enough in the end for most contests to take place and to determine the winners in all the different sports and categories.

On the MTB Big Air, the world’s best riders from Canada, New Zealand, Spain, UK and France rocked the spot and went huge! This attracted an excited crowd that saw some jaw-dropping action with front flips, 360 double whips, triple whips and 720s! Check out this video of the best tricks session at FISE 2011:

One of the most impressive sessions of FISE 2011 was the BMX park final. In the end it was the 16-year-old American Pat Casey who took the top spot. He topped his all over impressive and versatile run with a first ever One Foot Decade Backflip! Mark Webb finished 2nd after delivering a really technical show while the Italian rider Alessandro Barbero ranked 3rd despite his awesome Front Flip No Hander right in front of the audience. The overall ranking goes as follows:

1. Pat Casey (USA)
2. Mark Webb (UK)
3. Alessandro Barbero (IT)
4. Daniel Dhers
5. Drew Bezanson
6. Todd Mayn
7. JB Peytavit
8. Dean Cueson

Even if you are not really into BMX you’ll still notice that the sport has been taken to another level over the last few years and if you are into it you’ll be amazed by the riding level in this final session. If you have the chance turn up the volume right now and you should be able to almost feel the atmosphere during the finals of the BMX competition:

We didn’t only support FISE 2011 but we had a booth there where everyone was invited to test their strength and win some Arnette goodies. You gotta love how the kids went for it!

There will be more video highlights available in the next couple of days. We’ll keep you posted for sure!

Rendezvous in Montpellier: Arnette Supports FISE

It's common knowledge that the French are gourmets when it comes to the culinary arts. FISE shows us that they also have the ability to whip up some pretty tasty action sports entertainment!

From June 1st - 5th, Montpellier is the place to be! La crème de la crème of the action sports world will come together at FISE to compete in a variety of disciplines including Skateboarding, BMX, Wakeboarding, Mountain Biking and Inline Skating. In addition to top pros, amateurs also have the chance to take part in their own category.

Last year FISE attracted approximately 350,000 spectators and 1,500 athletes, which means this is a pretty major happening in the South of France - and it's free to get in. Here's a look at the competition venues:

The Street Course

The Wake Course

Aside from all the shredding, the crowds are guaranteed to have a great time with DJ's and live music pumping all 5 days. Plus, in keeping with the "green" movement, FISE is an eco-conscious event that will employ a variety of environmentally friendly technologies and materials.

There are so many good reasons to pack your bag and head to Montpellier for FISE! But if you can't make it, don't worry because you can still catch all the action via a live stream on the FISE website.

Here's a look at what went down last year:
