Five SoCal surf shops (Jack's, Surfside Sports, Surfride, E.T. and Katin.) battled it out for $2,5000 in cash, with $2,000 going to the winning shop and $500 to the surfer with the best barrel. Not only was money up for grabs, but so were bragging rights. Each team was made up exclusively of shop employees, not their team riders, so it was a true battle of shop credibility out in the water.
 
All the shops were ripping and could not believe how good the waves were for this event.  Jack's  narrowly took out Surfride by .06 and went home with the $2,000 dollar prize.  Jacks employee, Jesse Stealmen, was the winner for the best barrel and went home with an extra $500 in his pocket.
 
The event was amazing, all the shops were stoked and we cannot wait til next year.

The 24th Annual City of Newport Beach Surf Championships
 
Encinitas, CA (September 19, 2012): Arnette is stoked to announce that the latest addition to their Cash Pot series of events, the Cash Pot Shop Invitational, will be taking place at the 24th Annual City of Newport Beach Surf Championships, presented by Jack’s Surfboards. With teams comprised purely of each shop’s employees, the Cash Pot Shop Invitational is one way Arnette is showing support for the retailers and employees that live, breath and create their local scenes. Subject to wave conditions, the Cash Pot Shop Invitational will occur either on September 29th or 30th, 2012.
 
Arnette’s Cash Pot Shop Invitational is invite only, comprised of eight teams of four shop employees each, representing some of the most respected and influential surf retailers in the area. A purse of $2,500 is up for grabs, with $2,000 being allocated for the finals and an extra $500 being set aside as a bonus prize for an award to be named later.
 
“The Cash Pot Shop Invitational is a great way for Arnette to show support to the local retailers that mean so much to this industry. Our Cash Pot events are always fun and I’m psyched we’re going to a part of the Newport Beach Surf Championships. When we told the shops it was for employees only, everyone was extra stoked,” commented Brent Bearden, Arnette Team & Events Manager.


 
Seven retailers have been confirmed they will be sending teams to the Cash Pot Shop Invitational, with one final team to be named later. Shops that have been confirmed they will be competing include:

Huntington Surf & Sport
Jack’s Surfboards
Katin Surf Shop
Spyder Surf Shop
Surfside Sports
