Sage Kotsenburg Takes Silver at Winter X Games Slopestyle

Sage Kotsenburg had the slopestyle run of his life at Winter X-Games 2012, and it showed by the judges rewarding him with the SILVER MEDAL! He had a couple smooth & tech rail tricks, then the jump line was a switch backside double-cork 1080, to a cab double-cork 1260, then a stylish classic flat frontside 1080 melon, and finished with what the announcers called a backside double-cork 1260, but it was really a perfectly controlled flat back 12.

KEVIN JONES AND ETHAN DEISS JOIN ARNETTE GLOBAL PRO SNOWBOARD TEAM FOOTHILL RANCH, CA – January 20, 2012 – Arnette is excited to announce two major additions to their Global Pro Team. First on this list is Kevin Jones, who was a key figure in Arnette’s early snowboard dynasty and has had an undisputed impact on the snow shred world. Joining Kevin is up-and-coming Midwest ripper Ethan Deiss, whose DIY approach to snowboarding and ride whatever comes his way attitude make him another great addition to the Arnette crew.

Kevin’s 20 year influence on snowboarding includes years of crushing contests and taking a skate-style approach to big mountain terrain. Johnny Lazz takes 3rd at the RIDE Shakedown Rail Jam

This year we were proud to sponsor one of the biggest and baddest snowboarding events in the USA, the RIDE Shakedown. The action was off the hook, but even better was the fact that our very own Johnny Lazz (of our National team) secured a third place finish amidst a stacked field of competition. For the past decade the Ride Shakedown events have distinguished themselves amongst an overly crowded contest calendar by having the most innovative and rider friendly format on the competition circuit. By mandating that riders call their tricks before dropping and abstain from repeating moves the spectacle remains fresh and progressive with only the best riders reap the rewards.

On Friday March 18th, 2011 The Shakedown made its second appearance at The Summit-at-Snoqualmie, WA and in typical Northwest fashion it was damp. Yet the moist conditions didn’t deter the 40 riders in the invite only rail event from stepping up picking apart the two-feature setup. The lookers right of the course yielded a quad kink square bar while the left showcased a bloated round bar complete with a girthy donkey at the end. Two heats of 20 or so riders jammed nonstop for 45 minutes vying for a spot in the 8 man finals. Standouts like Dylan Alito, Garret Warnick, Seth Hill and Yale Cousino set down some of the best tricks of the night but they lacked the consistency and panache of the eventual finalists.

SixEleven: Ride Shakedown 2011 Snoqualmie Recap

The 8 men making the main event cut were Johnny Lazzereschi, Joe Mango, Alex Andrews, Jeremy Cloutier, Ryan Paul, Matts Kulesik, Zak Hale, and Stefan Krumm. After some serious riding, the eventual podium consisted of Johnny Lazzereschi, Matts Kulesik and Jeremy Cloutier respectively.

The RIDE Shakedown Returns for Round 2 at The Summit at Snoqualmie
Pros and Ams alike prepare for the international snowboarding competition that will earn them $35,000 cash purse

Seattle, January 24, 2011 – This March, thousands will flock to the Summit at Snoqualmie, WA, to experience the second annual edition of the RIDE Shakedown, an international snowboarding competition now held in Canada, the U.S. and Germany. Keeping with its unique jump-to-rail jam contest format, both amateur and professional athletes will take to the course in an effort to win their share of the $35,000 purse.

Now a part of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour at the 4star level, the jam-style event held in Canada, Germany and the USA is known for its impressive urban rail features and 50-foot jump only unveiled to the athletes the day of the competition. The RIDE Shakedown is the only major snowboarding event that features a big air jump followed by a rail set up, in addition to the popular “jam format” competition that allows riders to choose their judged run.

The RIDE Shakedown draws snowboard fans and athletes alike by way of entertainment and adrenaline. Currently celebrating its 10th season in Canada, the event has attracted upwards of 20,000 spectators annually. Patryck Bernier and Brendan O’Dowd, founders of DIZZLE Entertainment and organizers of the RIDE Shakedown, say it’s quite the show, “it combines the entertainment of a festival with the intensity of a core competition while keeping it laid-back for the athletes. It’s fun for everyone, the audience is involved every step of the way. There’s the sponsor village filled with activities, a pro autograph session, and of course a top-notch snowboarding show –all for free.”

This intensity stems from the opportunity for amateurs to prove themselves and compete against professionals. Sebastien Toutant got his start at the age of 13 by winning the RIDE Shakedown as an amateur. The world-renown rider and two-time winner of the RIDE Shakedown will be competing at the U.S. edition of the RIDE Shakedown alongside many fellow RIDE team riders. In fact, the roster already looks promising. Back for a second edition are international professionals Alex Cantin –hailing from Stoneham QC, and Waterville Valley, NH native Sam Hulbert. Not to be forgotten is Seattle local Austin Hironaka, 2010 RIDE Shakedown Rail Jam winner, returning to defend his title.

Interested amateurs can qualify either at the event or through the TransWorld SNOWboarding TransAm series, which serve as a qualification round for the RIDE Shakedown. Arnette AM squad shreds the Mammoth Art Park

Earlier this month our AM team descended upon the Mammoth Mountain "Art Park" for a gnarly shred sesh headed by Snow Team Ambassador Robert "Sticky" Shaw. The level of riding was impressive, but more than that was the whole vibe of the crew being super mellow and laid back...everything riding with your friends should be all about anyways...right?
