Our boy Joel Centeio just nabbed the prestigious sequence of the week on Surfline for an Off the Wall drainer as he describes below...

"It was NW swell mixed with a little NNW so it was focusing at Off-the-Wall bigger than Pipe," Joel Centeio recalls of last week's dream run. "That was one of the better sessions I've ever had out there. I had five or six of my best waves that day. It was consistently good, six- to eight-foot Off-the-Wall with perfect conditions. That was actually my first wave of the session and there were only a few guys out so I paddled straight into the lineup and this wave swung inside. I got a decent little pump at the beginning and from there I had my speed. I was super-deep and saw the doggy door at the end. As I flew out, I threw a little claim because I was psyched on it."

Check the full sequence in animated action here.

Pipeline is no easy wave to tame, especially when it's 6-8 foot, offshore and dredging barrels as it was this past week for the Volcom contest. It truly was a sight to behold, especially when our very own Fred Patacchia was out there scoring high 9's. Fred was having one hell of a run, and during his quarter final heat he pulled in deep behind the peak and got so barreled it was scary. If he wouldn't have made it out then he would've been severly hurt. But, Fred is Fred so he did...and boy did he ever do it in style. In fact, it was probably that heat that did him in. He exerted so much energy that when the semis rolled around he was probably running on fumes, and in all honesty, if the competition was based on one wave then he would have won, easily! But it wasn't, and although John Florence went on to win the comp Freddy sure did put on one hell of a show, and for that, we are thankful. Don't worry though, as you'll be seeing much more of Fred and his winning ways as the WCT kicks off in February. For the full story head to Surfline.

Everybody knows that Pipeline is the ultimate proving grounds when it comes to the surf world, so, when the ASP rated 5-star Volcom Pipe Pro comes to town surfers are knocking on the door from everywhere to get in on the action. Lucky for us, all of our heavy hitters came to town to battle it out with the best of 'em and have been fairing quite well. Timmy Reyes scored a bomb in his heat, and, well, Freddy P has just pretty much been doing what he has his whole life...dominate the Pipeline left. Meanwhile, young gun Marc Lacomare has channeled his momentum from his recent win at the World Juniors and has been quietly advancing in his own right. Can somebody say darkhorse? Below are a few photos from the Day 2 action, but for a complete wrap up head over to Surfline and check out their stellar reporting. We'll continue to keep you posted as our boys keep winning.

"Yo Bruce, let's sit on these other two guys" jokes Freddy with his good friend before paddling out to do work. They both advanced.

Big-wave guys were running south on virtually no sleep. Photogs were burning the midnight oil processing, recharging their batteries and shooting some more. And all the while, the surf kept on pumping." -Mike Cianciulli

Timmy is quite the nomad. It's not uncommon for him to disappear down south for months at a time, in fact, Mexico is his home away from home. With a whole quiver of sleds stashed down there and close friends all around, he's practically a local at the Mexican Pipeline. Check out his monster barrel in this clip from our friends at Surfline.

As Surfline puts it, “None shined bigger than that of former USA Surf Team standout, Jeremy Johnston, who has been on an absolute tear since winning the 2010 East Coast Scholastic Surfing Championships in March. The New Smyrna surfer controlled his heats early and never let up. The ECSC title is his first.”
