We're super stoked to report that over the weekend 17-year-old Arnette team rider Zeke Lau (HAW) claimed his first major ASP victory and a check for $12,000!  Zeke edged out Mitch Crews (AUS) in firing 4-to-6 foot waves at La Libertad's righthand point break of Punta Roca to win the ASP 4-Star Copa Quiksilver El Salvador.

It was a hard-fought final, with Zeke and Mitch trading off even exchanges in the beginning of the heat.  But midway through, Zeke locked into a perfect righthander and unleashed a whirlwind of powerful forehand turns which earned him a 9.23 -- the highest single-wave score of the day.  Soon after that, he had another amazing ride which earned him an 8.07 and effectively locked up the win.

“It just felt so good when I got here, the waves are good and I just stayed relaxed,” Zeke said.  “It’s a bounce back, I’ve had some ups and downs and I just wanted to get back on it and just relax and surf.  I just had so much fun.  Mitch surfed so well and I wanted to surf against him in the Final.”

Great job, Zeke!  Click here to find out more.  All photos by Tony Roberts.
