OUR MISSION

ARNETTE’s approach is based on the use of alternative materials, all of which contribute to the shift from virgin fossil-based to bio-based or recycled sources. This approach is reflected in the materials used to produce both frames and lenses.

FRAME MATERIALS

BIO-BASED ACETATE

Since 2020, ARNETTE’s top collections have featured bio-based acetate, a premium material built for bold frames. It’s made from a blend of cellulose acetate, sourced from cotton or wood pulp, and a plasticizer that comes from plant-based ingredients. This switch replaces the fossil-based version and pushes the total bio-based carbon content to between 61%* and 67%*.

BIO-NYLON

Bio-carbon content inside the material can vary from 46%* to 59%*, representing the amount of carbon coming from plant-based sources respect to fossil-based ones. It is built to perform without compromise on durability, comfort, or style.

RECYCLED NYLON

Waste from the production of injected frames is collected and mechanically recycled to create new frames made with 50% recycled plastic. This circular process can be repeated several times without compromising the quality or performance of the material

LENS MATERIALS

BIO-NYLON

All of our sun frames in bio-based acetate are fitted with lenses made with bio-based nylon, with at least 40%* bio-based carbon content, sourced from ingredients like castor oil. This material matches the quality of traditional nylon and can only be used on non-polarized lenses.

BIO-CIRCULAR POLYCARBONATE

New for 2024, ARNETTE lenses now include bio-circular polycarbonate. It’s made by mixing standard fossil-based feedstock with recycled waste and biological residues like used cooking oil. The result: a polycarbonate with at least 60% bio-circular content, made for both polar and non-polar lenses.

PACKAGING

RESPONSIBLE PACKAGING

All ARNETTE styles are paired with a pouch whose fabrics are made with 80% recycled content and a box which is made with 100% certified recycled paper. In addition, the microfiber cleaning cloth is made of 100% of recycled polyester wrapped in a paper strip.
